Screen printing VS Digital Printing for Umbrella

As we all know, umbrellas can be used for promotion/advertising. While as the design verifies, there are clear differences ways for printing. Normally we use screen printing and digital printing on umbrella canopy fabric.

Screen Printing

Screen printing is a traditional craft that pushes ink through mesh screens onto the fabric surface. Each separate colour requires one custom made screen. It works perfectly for simple logos, text and solid colour patterns, usually limited to 1-4 colors. The ink layer is thick, delivering bright, opaque colors and strong wear resistance. For large volume bulk orders, its unit cost is much lower. However, it cannot produce smooth gradients, photographs or complex multi colour artwork.

Digital Printing

Digital printing sprays ink directly onto fabric without screens or extra setup fees for colors. It supports unlimited colors, soft colour transitions, fine details and full canopy all over prints with photo realistic effects. It suits complicated designs and small batch orders well. Its single piece cost is higher for mass production.

In short, choose screen printing for simple less color logos in big quantities; pick digital printing for rich, detailed artwork. In this case, you can both save cost and get a nice design umbrella !
